Roberto Martinez: Promises wins will come

Roberto Martinez: Promises wins will come

Wigan, who lie 14th in the league, suffered a 2-1 defeat to West Brom at the weekend.

The defeat followed victory over Tottenham the previous week -highlighting Wigan's inconsistent form that has led to three defeats, two wins and a draw in their previous six top flight games.

But Martinez is confident the results will come if his team remain focused on improving their performances and forget about the ultimate outcome.

"Every game is completely different and we need to be able to adapt in different ways and to different challenges that you get week in and week out," he told Sky Sports News.

"Yes, you want to get a good run of results but what is important is that you get a good level of performance.

"I think that we performed well on Saturday but the next steps are to be able to adapt in certain ways so you can keep picking up positive results week in and week out.

"But remember there is a process and we are getting very close to where we want to get."

Martinez was speaking at the North West Football Awards, where Wigan chairman Dave Whelan won a Life Time Achievement award for services to football.

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
