Laudrup, who led Swansea to their first major trophy with victory in the Capital One Cup during his first season in charge, has already signed Wilfried Bony to complement Spanish star Michu.

"I think Di Santo is a good player, but I don't think he has the characteristics we are looking for," Laudrup was quoted as telling the BBC.

"I am looking for a different kind of player. We need one more, a different kind of striker.

"We need one with different characteristics to Bony and Michu, but we can wait and we don't have to sign this player today or tomorrow or this week or in two weeks.

"I have also spent a certain amount of money, so it won't be a big signing but for me it doesn't matter.

"If it's a big player on loan from a big club.....it's about the quality."

Swansea have also recruited Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool, Alejandro Pozuelo and Jose Canas from Real Betis, Jordi Amat from Espanyol, Gregor Zabret from NK Domzale and Alex Gogic from Olympiakos, while securing the return of midfielder Jonathan de Guzman on a season-long loan from Villarreal.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
