Reports have suggested United are preparing to recall Powell form his spell at Wigan to enable him to join a Premier League on loan in January so that he can continue his development.

Powell has impressed during his time at Wigan and scored a spectacular overhead kick in Sunday's 3-2 win over Bolton to give Rosler his first victory in charge.

Rosler has revealed that he has spoken to Manchester United boss David Moyes about extending Powell's loan spell at the DW Stadium.

"I contacted David Moyes at United two days ago to ask about Nick and we will be having a dialogue in the near future," said Rosler. "I want Nick to stay here until the end of the season.

"I want to promote a culture of excellent football at Wigan and players like Nick will flourish here. I hope United see it the same way."

Powell, who joined United from Crewe in 2012, is tipped for a big future at Old Trafford.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
