tripletaxed....do you think in any way the same could be applied to Liverpool and Suarez? Also, Spurs have flattered to deceive have they? Brilliant comment when you consider we've finished above Liverpool by spending less money during that period (both wages and transfers). Only one team out of the two has flattered to deceive. You plum.

I actually believe that Liverpool are playing their best football for many a year and long may it continue. Whilst it's easier to win the league with fewer true challengers, it's far more satisfying with a real football club like Liverpool leading the chasing pack... I fear it'll be a few years before Arsenal are challenging again.

The trouble with Spurs is that they need to whatever they do consistently and without Gareth Bale. As a team, Spurs have flattered to deceive over the last 2 or 3 years. Yes, they are a good team but often only pull out their best performances when Bale is on song - and lets face it, there are few better in the Premier League right now. But without Bale, no matter how good the rest of the team appear to be and they fail. If Bale were to be injured in the next couple of weeks, Spurs would plummet.

"...considering they have nothing left to play for but pride." Are you sure you understand how the Premier league works, Matt? Even as mere snark, that comment doesn't work. 7th place and Europa League would be a huge achievement for this Liverpool side, considering where they started from.

Good result for Liverpool, goalscoring is not a problem any more thankfully. Now, we need to get a result on Sunday against Spurs, no point hammering a reserve Swansea team and a poor Wigan outfit and thinking we are brilliant, the acid test is next Sunday. If we were to put up a good display and get a win at home to Spurs, things would be a lot brighter then.

iyibaba - its only the media that start that topic up, I don't know or have never read a single other spurs fan say they think this. For a good example, see AVB's post match interview yesterday he is sensibly cautious.

I have said this before and I will say it again, even if Spurs finish above us this season it will take them to do it at least 3 times before anyone (not least the press) can claim power has shifted! I will use 2 examples, United and City, has power shifted just because City won last season...? NO, Liverpool and Everton, despite rebuilding at Liverpool can anyone really say Everton are now the main team in Liverpool...NO! Spurs need to top us consistently for the next 3 to 4 years before we can declare them the new number one club in North London. And by the way if silent Stan decides to sell today there will be so many suitors that in one big deal we are comfortably back on top,.,.
