Stale Solbakken: Unhappy with Molineux referee

Solbakken was unhappy with the decision to award Brighton an 89th-minute penalty after Mathieson ruled that Stephen Ward had handled from Andrea Orlandi.

Wolves had to play for the entire second period a man down after captain Karl Henry had been dismissed for a lunge on Liam Bridcutt in first-half stoppage time, with a last-gasp equaliser from Roger Johnson rescuing them.

Solbakken, who had punched a hole in the top of the dug-out when Brighton grabbed their first equaliser, said: "The ref made a big mistake.

"When it is one minute left you should be 100 per cent sure that it is a penalty and it was far from a penalty. I think if we had lost 3-2 after the guts the guys showed in the second half it would have been hard to pick them up.

"I think the referee got the red card spot on, but when you see the replay for the penalty it is so far from a penalty. He (Berra) had his arm inside his body and the referee does not even see it because he is standing and looking at five Brighton players with their arms up.

"I don't like that because he is taking a chance. I have made mistakes in my life and he has done so I can live with that. But I think that he must think twice. I told him to look at the replay. If it is in the middle of the park you can take it on a feeling and blow, but you can can't blow there (in the penalty area)."
