Tuesday's victory over promotion hopefuls Hull City took the West Midlands club outside the Championship relegation zone on goal difference, but Saunders admits that it only provides temporary relief.

Saunders, who has won just five of his 17 games in charge since taking over in January, is under no illusions of the gravity for him personally should the club be relegated to League One.

"Every couple of days you think, 'What am I doing this for? It drives you around the bend'," Saunders told the Daily Star.

"You don't enjoy the wins really - it's just relief. Winning just means you are not going to feel as bad as you did on Saturday after the Huddersfield game. It's damage limitation.

"We just need to survive and I can deal with that.

"If they are happy with you, you carry on - if you are not you are in the garden."

Wolves travel to Charlton on Saturday, before a home game against Burnley and Brighton (away) on the final day.
