Edwards, on course to return from a broken metatarsal in time for pre-season, will be looking to secure an immediate return to the Championship after Wanderers last week took up a 12-month contract option on his services.

Wolves find themselves in the third tier of English football for the first time since 1989 following disastrous back-to-back relegations, but Edwards has a clear message for anyone thinking they will stroll to promotion next term.

"I've played in every league from the Conference up so I know what League One is like. It's a tough league and if people think we're going to turn up to places and win four or 5-0, they're wrong," the 27-year-old told the club's official website.

"It's not going to be like that - it's about going to those tough away grounds and grinding out 1-0 wins, which is what we'll need to do.

"Look at all the teams who get relegated from the Championship - not many of them jump straight back up. It's a very tough league and you can't always play the way you want to play.

"It's about getting results. I'm aware of that and I'm sure whoever is manager - and whichever new players come in - will be fully aware of it as well."

Meanwhile, Wolves' search for a new head coach following the sacking of Dean Saunders is set to step up a gear this week with the return of chief executive Jez Moxey after a short break.

Former Millwall boss Kenny Jackett is currently the bookies' favourite while former England boss Steve McClaren has also been linked.
