Johnson hails Miller impact

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson hopes Ishmael Miller will want to stay at Huish Park after scoring in back-to-back games.

The Nottingham Forest loanee, who netted on his Glovers' bow in the 3-0 win at Watford on Saturday, was their biggest threat in the 1-0 victory over eight-man Blackpool on Tuesday night.

It took Miller just 40 seconds to fire in his first effort of the game and he continued to create chances for himself as he terrorised the high-flying visitors and the Blackpool attempts to stop him played a part in the red cards for Gary MacKenzie and Kirk Broadfoot.

"He had a fantastic game," manager Gary Johnson said. "He was strong in the air, had a presence and gave us a threat.

"The two centre-halves knew they were in a game and the reason they both got sent off was because he was putting them under pressure from early on and late on they've had to make some lunging tackles and picked up second yellows.

"Me, Terry and Darren (Skiverton and Way, Johnson's assistants) kept him going. We had Hayter ready to come on but we kept him going and he didn't want to come off. He deserved to stay on and see his time out."

Miller had been reduced to just a handful of substitute appearances for Billy Davies' Forest before heading to Somerset and his new manager admitted an extension of the one-month loan deal Miller signed last week will be down to the player.

"I think it will be down to Ishmael really," he said. "He has come here to get his football going and I think he's enjoyed the two games and his one goal. That is what footballers want to do, they want to play and enjoy their football.

"But what they also realise is if you've missed a lot of games it is very hard to get your game going and your game fitness."
