Tom Lawrence: Has earned international recognition with Wales

The 20-year-old forward caught the eye earlier in the season after linking up with League One outfit Carlisle United.

He impressed during his short time in the third tier, but it was clear that he could handle a step up in class.

Yeovil have offered him that opportunity, on a three-month youth loan, and have provided him with a more prominent window in which to impress.

International recognition has swiftly followed, with Lawrence part of the latest Wales U21 squad and on standby for the senior side should Chris Coleman see his options depleted by withdrawals.

Glovers boss Johnson believes such recognition is thoroughly deserved and is delighted to have been able to play a small part in furthering a promising career.

Asked if Lawrence needed to join the second tier ranks in order to be noticed, he told the Western Gazette: "I think so.

"When Manchester United spoke to us and we spoke to them, he needed a club that would take a chance on a young, inexperienced Championship player.

"It was the same as Shane Duffy, John Lundstram or Joe Ralls, where we had to take the chance.

"We're not getting ready-made Championship players, it's impossible. We have to take a chance sometimes in getting these players and working with them.

"All of those lads are here until the end of the season. When you're taking a chance you can't get them all right and so obviously the ones that didn't work out we didn't keep very long.

"The judgement with most has been good and certainly the group that we have been left with are doing a job in the Championship."

e doesn't need a caoch. He needs a bus. A bloody big one, that he can park across the goal line. And when he gets one, he can do us a favour and let us know where we can buy one from as well.
