£100million Tottenham star could jump ship as summer talks will determine ‘final’ step

Harry Kane will reportedly hold talks with Tottenham in the summer before he makes a ‘final decision’ on his future, amid interest from a few sides.

Spurs might soon need to prepare themselves for a life without Kane. That’s something they’ve not experienced since the 2012/13 campaign.

The forward’s introduction to the first team came the following season, before he was eased into Premier League action the next year.

Since then, he’s racked up 268 goals for the club alongside 63 assists and, despite never having won a trophy, will surely go down as a legend at Tottenham.

However, whispers that his career at the club is on its last legs have gotten louder of late. Manchester United and Bayern Munich are both keen on the star man, with the former seeing him as a ‘priority’ amid their need to recruit a striker.

That pursuit might not be the easiest for the Red Devils. Indeed, the Daily Mail reports Tottenham are ‘reluctant to sanction a deal’ for Kane in the summer.

However, things might be taken out of their control. That report states Kane will ‘hold talks’ with the club in the summer ahead of a ‘final decision on his future’.

If the striker decides he wants to leave, Spurs will have little choice in the matter. Indeed, his deal runs out in the summer of 2024 and they ‘know they will lose him for nothing’ at that point.

In any case, chairman Daniel Levy will reportedly ‘want a minimum of £100million’ and that price ‘could inflate for a fellow Premier League side’.

That would give United a tougher task than Bayern, given they might have to spend more for the same transfer. However, that they are a Premier League side has pros and cons.

While they might have to pay a little extra, it’d be a surprise if Kane wanted to leave the English top flight. The forward is currently sitting on 201 Premier League goals.

That puts him 59 shy of Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goals record of 260. Kane has a legitimate chance of breaking that record over the next few seasons if he’s still in England.

He’s scored 18 league goals this term – the second-most in the league – so he’s in good touch. As such, a move to United would be mutually beneficial, so even though Spurs will demand a hefty fee, it would be little wonder if they paid it.
