Agent of Liverpool star gives very clear verdict on transfer talk amid Champions League claim

The agent of Liverpool star Mo Salah has rubbished suggestions that he will leave the club if they fail to earn a place in next year’s Champions League.

Liverpool battled for the quadruple last season but they have suffered a significant drop off in form during this campaign.

The Reds have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup after they won both trophies last term. They are also likely to exit the Champions League in the last-16 stage after they lost 5-2 to Real Madrid in the first leg at Anfield.

In the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently seventh. They are nine points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham with two games in hand. Newcastle are two spots ahead of Liverpool and five points clear having played the same number of games.

Salah was sensational as Liverpool competed for four trophies last term but his form has declined this term. He is having a much lesser impact on games than usual and he has only scored eight Premier League goals in 23 outings.

Last summer, Salah signed a new deal that will keep him contracted to Liverpool until 2025.

Despite this, the 30-year-old is being heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool. It was suggested earlier this week that he would be ‘open’ to leaving this summer if they do not earn a spot in the Champions League for next season.

The player’s agent – Ramy Abbas Issa – has been quick to respond to these claims. He has labelled this report as “nonsense”.

“Nonsense,” Abbas stated via Twitter on Monday.

“This was never discussed or thought about. Not qualifying for the Champions League hasn’t even crossed our minds.”

While Salah has been largely out of sorts, Liverpool youngster Stefan Bajcetic has shone since breaking through earlier this season.

After Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Everton on February 13, Salah claimed that Bajcetic has been their “best player” in recent months.

“He’s a great player and person, he always tries to work hard,” Salah told Sky Sports.

“Since he started playing for us, he has been our best player maybe so hopefully he keeps that confidence and keeps going.”

Bajcetic was then full of praise for Salah. He suggested that the forward is one of Liverpool’s “best-ever players”.

“To be fair, I played in a different position, I thought it would be less comfortable but it was good and I enjoyed it a lot,” Bajcetic added.

“Mo Salah is probably one of the best players ever in Liverpool history so it is nice to hear a legend say that to me.

“I won more confidence playing at Anfield for a couple of games so I always love a tackle so I combine both and that is good.

“It was a great game, with the crowd and the derby. Hopefully we keep playing well and win more games.”
