Aguero praises Haaland

Sergio Aguero has warned Erling Haaland that he will have to undergo a “period of adaptation” before he reaches his full potential at Man City.

The 21-year-old was linked with Man Utd prior to his move to Borussia Dortmund in 2020 for around £17m.

Haaland established himself as one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe during his time at Dortmund. He netted 86 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions.

The forward was always expected to leave Dortmund this summer when his release clause became active. Man City have signed him for £51m plus add-ons.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently in the United States for their pre-season tour. City face Bayern Munich in a friendly before they battle Liverpool in the Community Sheild at Wembley on July 30.

Club legend Aguero thinks Haaland “will go through his own process” but “the results will be seen soon”:

“Haaland’s is a very important signing. I think his goalscoring ability is proven. His stats through the German league and in Europe confirms this,” Aguero said (quotes via Manchester Evening News).

“Logically, he will have a period of adaptation to a league as strong as the Premier League but I think he will go through his own process and the results will be seen soon.

“I think that an elite player like him will know how to reconcile his style with that of Pep Guardiola’s teams.

“It may take a while, as it did in the beginning for me. But once he gets into gear everything will be simpler. I think he has the talent to fulfil what is asked of him, which are goals.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly reached a ‘full agreement’ to sign Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko for an initial fee of £30m.

Zinchenko is set to be their fifth summer purchase. Man City bought him from Russian side FC Ufa in 2016 for £1.7m.

The Ukraine international has been a bit-part player for Man City over the past few seasons as he played 76 times in the league.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Arsenal and Man City have now come to a ‘full agreement’ over the transfer.

The player has agreed personal terms and he is set to undergo his medical later this week.

Romano has also revealed that Man City are now ready to put in an ‘official bid’ for Brighton’s Marc Cucurella.

This will be ‘as soon as possible’ as the Spaniard ‘has always been Pep Guardiola’s top target’ at left-back.
