Allan Saint-Maximin explains ‘love’ for Newcastle as bulls*** Juventus rumour is brushed aside

Allan Saint-Maximin has spoken about his “love” for Newcastle United as reported interest from European heavyweights Juventus is taken with a pinch of salt.

The French winger joined the Magpies from Nice for around £16million back in 2019.

He has become a huge favourite at St James Park, mainly for his eccentric style of play, but also his selflessness in giving back to the community in the north east.

There have often been rumours about his future with the Premier League club, though those have simmered down after they were bought by a filthy rich Saudi Arabian-led consortium.

Prior to the ambitious takeover, Saint-Maximin had often spoken about not settling for avoiding relegation every season.

A November report from Juve Dipendenza claimed that Newcastle are interested in Juventus forward Moise Kean and would be willing to let Saint-Maximin go the other way.

Of course, the Old Lady would also be open to this type of deal.

It was a bizarre story, though the Magpies are in need of a versatile forward, despite the summer signing of Alexander Isak.

The fact it was said that Newcastle would entertain Saint-Maximin’s exit to make way for Everton flop Kean pretty much instantly disregarded the report as a whole.

And this sort of rumour may have caught his attention before, but things are different at Newcastle now.

The Geordies are third in the Premier League and look way ahead of schedule in their bid to become a European juggernaut.

Saint-Maximin is adored by fans in the north east, and he is pretty smitten with the club and the supporters himself.

Newcastle are currently in Saudi Arabia for a training camp and the 25-year-old has been discussing what it is like to play for the Magpies right now.

He said: “It’s very nice, it’s like finding your first house.

“It’s when you have found a very nice house and you know what you are going to build. You start to see the potential there and you are like ‘wow – this is huge’. That is a great example because I really feel at home here.

“This is a different place now. There are a lot of beautiful houses in the world now but there are some houses where you put your feet and think ‘here is my home’.

“It’s the feeling I have in Newcastle. I am very proud because sometimes when you start and everything isn’t perfect, when you work very hard you start to see everything change. Especially when you have the choice to go to another club. You just say no I will believe until the end at this club.

“I want to give back the love they give me. You think it’s great – anything can happen now, and I will always be a Newcastle fan, I love the club so much.”

Newcastle take on Al-Hilal in a friendly on Friday before facing Rayo Vallecano at St James’ Park on December 17.

Their domestic season gets back underway four days later when Eddie Howe’s side host Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup.
