Massimiliano Allegri was coy on rumours that he could replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager.

Juventus head coach Allegri has emerged as one of the frontrunners to take Wenger’s place at the Emirates Stadium when the Frenchman is finally either removed or steps down.

Allegri is the current favourite with most bookmakers, ahead of Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe, Gunners legend Patrick Vieira, and Germany national team manager Joachim Low.

But when asked about the prospect of taking over at Arsenal, Allegri gave nothing away.

“I won’t deny or confirm anything,” he told Mediaset Premium. “I am in sync with the club, now we have to focus on winning.

“At this time of the season the media always says I’m leaving, even when things are going really well.”

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta rubbished the rumours, adding: “Aside from the fact we have a contract with Allegri, I think there are still great targets we need to achieve together and our rapport is very good.

“There is no reason for him to leave Juventus, as there is great mutual admiration and affection.”
