Alli issues initial verdict on new Tottenham signing

Dele Alli believes that signing Davinson Sanchez is “a positive step” for Tottenham.

Sanchez joined Spurs for an initial £28million fee on Friday, which could rise to £42m with add-ons.

He is the north London club’s first arrival of the summer, with every other Premier League club acting fairly quickly in the transfer market.

Sanchez will offer competition in defence, as the Colombian shone at centre-half last season for Ajax.

New teammate Alli believes the 21-year-old can have an impact.

“It’s a positive step, I think we’ve got a strong side at the minute anyway so any player that the gaffer and the chairman think’s going to help the squad can only be a positive.

“Competition is always good so I’m sure the players at the back will be working hard to try and keep their places and he’ll be coming in and trying to fight for his place.

“If everyone’s trying and everyone’s playing well it can only be a positive effect on the team.”
