Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has recommended the signing of Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot to his board, according to a report.
The Portuguese spent last season on loan at AC Milan and the Italians are also keen on signing him permanently.
He made 33 appearances last season for the Serie A club as they finished second in the league.
Man Utd have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier this summer and if a deal fails to materialise manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could look to Dalot as a back-up to Aaron Wan-Bissaka next season.
Should Trippier arrive, however, Solskjaer could cash in on Dalot.
Ancelotti was also interested in signing the 22-year-old during his time at Everton.
He joined United from Porto in a £19million deal in 2019 but has made just 35 appearances in three seasons for the Red Devils.
Dalot was a late call-up into the Portugal squad for Euro 2020, replacing Joao Cancelo after he tested positive for Covid-19 two days before their opener against Hungary.
In another transfer story involving Real and United, Raphael Varane is close to moving to Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old’s contract expires next summer so the Spanish giants are looking to cash in this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.
They would be happy to keep Varane, with a new deal reportedly on the table, but the France international is keen for a new challenge away from the Bernabeu.
Simon Jones of the Mail on Sunday has suggested that the move is not quite so set in stone – and that United are ‘wary of reports’ stating otherwise.
Jones added that ‘steady progress’ is being made with regards to the Varane talks ahead of a ‘formal offer’ being made next week.
Sky Sports brought us the news on Saturday that Man Utd are ‘close’ to agreeing personal terms with Varane, but again, nothing is done.
