Anderlecht sporting director Herman Van Holsbeeck admits the club are working on a “future transfer” for Leander Dendoncker.
Dendoncker impressed for the Belgian side last season as they reached the Europa League quarter-finals and won the Belgian top flight.
Their conquerors in the Europa League, Manchester United, were reported to be scouting midfielder Dendoncker towards the end of the season.
He stayed at the club this summer despite interest from both United and Everton however, and Van Holsbeeck concedes that, like former teammate Youri Tielemans, who left for Monaco, Dendoncker will soon be shipped off.
“Dendoncker’s head was elsewhere,” he told Sport/Foot. “He showed his disappointment during training at not being transferred. His mate Tielemans went to Monaco, and he was training with the national team, and he wanted, like them, to play in the biggest leagues.
“Certain people in his entourage put pressure on me, on the club or on his agent, Christophe Henrotay.
“Today, we’re prepared to pay him based on his status of key player and to work on his future transfer like we did for Youri. In fact, we all have an interest in working together.”
