Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi

Sergio Aguero is “angry” with FC Barcelona for not renewing the contract of Lionel Messi and could try and force a way out of the Catalan club.

The Spanish giants had ‘promised’ Aguero that he would play with Messi at Barcelona, but it was confirmed on Thursday that the 34-year-old was unable to stay at the club due to “financial and structural obstacles”.

Aguero reportedly feels betrayed by his new club and his lawyers are reviewing the terms of his contract at the Nou Camp.

This is according to Catalonian outlet Beteve (via La Porteria) who claim to have broken the news of Aguero joining Barca four months before it was confirmed.

The 33-year-old’s future with the LaLiga outfit is looking bleak at this moment in time and he could now request to leave.

Messi’s future had been uncertain all summer, but last month it was reported that Messi was “on the right track” to sign a new deal.

It was then reported last week that Messi was all-set to put pen-to-paper on a new five-year deal at Barcelona.

But on Thursday the Spanish giants revealed via their official website that Messi will “not be staying” at Barcelona.

“Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations),” they said in a statement.

“As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.”

According to French outlet L’Equipe (via Get French Football News), Paris Saint-Germain are to offer the Barcelona legend a three-year contract.

Messi is apparently keen to move to the French capital and could earn €40million per year at PSG.

Ahead of their league opener against Troyes this weekend, manager Mauricio Pochettino said that the club are “working” while not giving a lot away.

The PSG hierarchy may have to sell a number of players due to the pressure of French football’s financial regulator.
