‘Announcement pending’ – Emerson completes Spurs medical
Tottenham Hotspur are close to completing the signing of Barcelona right-back Emerson Royal.
The player successfully completed his medical on Tuesday morning and is moving to north London in a €30million deal, including add ons.
Emerson joined Barcelona in January 2019 before moving to Real Betis a month later. However, the Catalan club took up the option to bring him back to the Nou Camp this summer for a reported £7.7m.

The Brazilian was also linked with a move to north London rivals Arsenal, but prefers a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Last season he played in 38 games for Betis in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing four assists from defence.
It is thought that Barca signed Emerson knowing they could turn a profit later this summer, which they look to have done in some uncharacteristic good business.
Their financial struggles have been widely reported this summer.
They have had to sell a number of players, while star man Lionel Messi couldn’t be tied down to a new deal.
Blaugrana boss Ronald Koeman can already rely on Sergino Dest on the right side of defence. Emerson has therefore been available for transfer since joining the Spanish giants.
The defender will become Spurs’ fifth signing of the transfer window. Bryan Gil arrived from Sevilla in a swap deal involving Erik Lamela, while Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini have both arrived from Atalanta.
Their most recent transfer is Pape Matar Sarr, who has joined the club permanently from Metz. He will spend the rest of the current campaign back in France on loan.
And former Spurs shot-stopper Paul Robinson has expressed his delight at the capture of Sarr.
When asked about the 18-year-old, Robinson told Football Insider: “I’ve done a bit of research on him.
“He’s been described as the future of Senegal. Idrissa Gueye is meant to have said he’s the best player to come out of Senegal for years.
“That’s really impressive because Gueye has had a lot of nice things said about him during his career.
“Tottenham weren’t the only club interested so they have done really well to get him at the price they have.”
