Reported Man Utd target Ansu Fati celebrates a goal for Barcelona

There is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati, with Man Utd reportedly interested in signing him.

The 20-year-old was a part of the Sevilla youth academy before joining Barcelona in 2012 at the age of nine.

He has been a Blaugrana player since then and has made over 100 appearances for the La Liga giants since making his debut in August 2019 when he was only 16 years old.

Fati is very highly thought of at the Nou Camp having been handed the No. 10 shirt following Lionel Messi’s departure in 2021.

Game time has been difficult to come by for the Bissau-born forward this season.

He has only played the full 90 minutes of two games throughout the entire 2022-23 campaign, prompting Fati’s father to slam the club for his son’s lack of game time.

When he has been given the opportunity to play, he has struggled in front of goal. In 46 appearances across all competitions, the Spanish international has only scored seven goals and provided three assists.

There are a lot of rumours linking Fati with a summer transfer, though it is believed the player does not want to leave Barcelona.

He has been linked with a surprise move to Wolves, but it would appear he will only move to Molineux should super agent Jorge Mendes be able to strike a deal that sees Ruben Neves move to the Nou Camp.

A fresh report from Sport (via Sport Witness) says Wolves have made an offer worth €30million plus Neves in exchange for Fati.

The report states that Mendes has tried to get the 20-year-old a move to a huge club, like Man Utd, but has been unable to do so.

This has opened the door for a move to the Midlands to play under Julen Lopetegui.

Another Spanish outlet, Mundo Deportivo, has played down talk of a summer transfer and did not even mention Wolves.

It is said that Man Utd, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all interested.

However, it is emphasised that Fati does not want to leave Barcelona.

Astoundingly, it is claimed that Man Utd once made a mind-boggling €150m (£133m) bid to sign the player. Even more surprisingly, this bid was rejected by cash-strapped Barca.

As Sport Witness say, this is very hard to believe and with Mendes involved in this story, it is likely that ‘transfer games are being played’.
