West Ham United have tied down winger Michail Antonio, who has committed his future to the Hammers by signing a contract until 2020.

The promising winger arrived last summer from Nottingham Forest for £7million and – after initially being little more than a squad player – featured regularly for Slaven Bilic’s first team.

He had originally signed until 2019, but his new terms are expected to reflect his increased importance to the Barclays Premier League club.

“I am delighted to have signed a new contract,” Antonio, 26, told West Ham’s official website. “I am happy that the manager and the chairman have showed their belief in me to give me a new deal.

“I have always believed in my own ability and when I am given the opportunity I will take it and hopefully I have showed that.

“I had to be patient when I first arrived, but once I got the chance I never looked back and hopefully I can now push on and do even better than what I did last season.”

Antonio’s new contract comes after those signed by Hammers team-mates Dimitri Payet, Adrian and Cheikhou Kouyate.

‘The Insider’ column on the club’s website also claims a further first-team player will follow the quartet in doing so.
