Ajax winger Antony wants to move to Man Utd this summer amid interest from former boss Erik ten Hag, according to reports.
The Brazilian spent his youth career at Sao Paulo before making his first-team debut in 2018 and going on to appear 52 times over three seasons.
Ajax were impressed by what they saw and snapped him up in 2020 in a deal that could rise to £18.2m, depending on performance-related add-ons.
Antony has contributed 17 goals and 12 assists in his first two seasons in the Eredivisie with his performances attracting interest from a number of clubs around Europe.
Man Utd have perhaps been the most heavily linked to the Brazil international with Ajax demanding a fee in excess of £50m for the 22-year-old.
Today’s transfer gossip column picked out a report in the Daily Mirror that insisted Man Utd could be forced to choose between signing Antony and Lisandro Martinez, ‘unless United make Ajax an offer that is just too good to refuse’.
And now Goal is claiming that Antony could help their cause this summer with the Ajax winger ‘determined to be reunited’ with Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
The report adds that Man Utd ‘held informal discussions over the 22-year-old but have not yet made an offer to Ajax’ with Antony’s stance ‘a boost’.
Antony has ‘made it clear’ to the Eredivisie champions that ‘he wants to join his former manager at Old Trafford’ after winning two titles and Dutch cup under Ten Hag.
The new Man Utd boss has made Frenkie de Jong his top summer target with Ten Hag hoping to have the Barcelona midfielder onboard their flight to Thailand at the beginning of July as they head off for their pre-season tour.
‘Ten Hag wants five new signings in his first transfer window at the club – with midfield his priority. De Jong is the leading target, with Christian Eriksen also wanted.
‘Attack is the next position Ten Hag wants to address, with Antony high up on his wanted list, while he is also an admirer of RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.’
