Arsenal have reportedly had a £58million bid for Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak rejected, and have been told the minimum requirement to land the striker.

The Sweden international has been linked with a move to the Emirates for some time and is thought to be Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s second choice after Dusan Vlahovic.

Arsenal focus on Vlahovic, who has completed a move to Juventus, has left them scrambling for a striker before the close of the transfer window.

They’ve also been linked with Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, as well as Alvaro Morata.

Arteta’s assistant Miguel Molina is said to have personally called the former Chelsea striker – on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid – in a bid to persuade him to move to the Emirates on deadline day.

But Mundo Deportivo claim Arsenal have returned to their original shortlist, making a £58million bid for Isak.

But Real Socieded are said to have snubbed that offer, insisting he will not be allowed to leave the club in this window for anything less than his release clause, which stands at £75million.

Isak admitted back in November that he would be open to a move to the Premier League at some point, but is currently “very happy” in La Liga with Sociedad.

“I’m in a good place at the moment, I’m very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England as well,” Isak said.

“They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s a very high level, and of course one day it would be an alternative.

“Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level.

“I have expectations for myself that I’m trying to fulfil, so we’ll see where the journey takes me in future.”

Arsenal are also reportedly interested in a move for Middlesbrough star Djed Spence on deadline day, but face competition from Spurs for the full-back, who is currently excelling on loan at Nottinggham Forest.
