Arsenal and Liverpool reject £4m-plus wage demands

Arsenal and Liverpool are among a host of clubs who turned down the chance to sign German midfielder Max Meyer on a free transfer this summer.

German newspaper Bild claim that the Schalke midfielder was asking for wages of over £4m a year and those figures put off Arsenal, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce.

Meyer’s agent Roger Wittman is now said to be in talks with Marseille, who finished fourth in Ligue Un last season.

Meyer makes our free agent XI alongside Marouane Fellaini, who now looks set to stay at Manchester United.
