New Southampton signing Sofiane Boufal was wanted by Arsenal, Tottenham and Paris St Germain, according to his agent.

Southampton eventually paid Lille £16m to sign Boufal, a club record fee.

Agent Yvan Le Mee claims that Boufal would have joined Paris St Germain if Laurent Blanc had still been in charge, while he also discussed interest from Arsenal and Tottenham. Antonio Conte ruled out any Chelsea move.

“We especially talked with Paris St Germain,” his agent told SFR Sport in France.

If Laurent Blanc had stayed at PSG, then he could have certainly stayed in France.

“We also had Arsenal when they left the Mahrez path… Finally they reconnected, but it didn’t happen. We had Tottenham and Chelsea, but Conte wasn’t boiling.”

Finally, Southampton manager Claude Puel confirmed that Boufal faces a further month out with a knee injury. Southampton were aware of the injury when signing the Moroccan international.
