Watford have abandoned their plans to sign Kieran Gibbs after failing to agree personal terms with the Arsenal defender.
The two clubs agreed a fee for the left-back last week, thought to be around £7m, but Watford did not meet the player’s contract demands.
He is thought to be earning around £60,000 a week at Arsenal, with the Hornets understandably reluctant to match such a figure.
Sky Sports report that they have pulled out of the deal as a result, and Arsenal are now left with Gibbs, unwanted in their squad, with Thursday’s transfer deadline looming.
West Brom are also interested in the 27-year-old, but they will likely encounter the same obstacles.
Well, there’s one of our top ten down already.
