It has been suggested that Arsenal ‘seem charmed’ by Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, with his price tag ‘expected’ to drop.

The Tielemans transfer saga has been ongoing throughout this summer, but he does not look to be any closer to leaving Leicester City.

This may be concerning for the player as it is now just over a week until the transfer window shuts on September 1.

The Belgium international is at least in a strong position as his current contract at Leicester expires in 2023.

Over at Arsenal, they have enjoyed a successful summer, with Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira being their marquee signings.

The Gunners are not done there though as they are still in the market for a winger and centre-midfielder.

Speaking earlier this month, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta suggested that “players need to leave” before they sign anyone else:

“We are really active as you can see with incomings and outgoings.

“Everything is still open, it’s a long window, a lot has happened, it’s incredible how much business the clubs have done across the Premier League and it shows how competitive it is and this season is not going to stop that.

“Players are going to have the need to leave, some others to move and everything is open still.”

He added: “It’s true that obviously we have trimmed the squad and changed the squad massively in the last two windows especially and you feel that now the players we have are more specific and better for the way we want to play basically.”

It has been claimed that Tielemans is valued at £30m this summer but Leicester are yet to receive a bid for him.

Het Nieuwsblad (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Arsenal are ‘charmed’ by Tielemans even though they have not made an offer to sign him.

They claim that Leicester have actually demanded €45m (£37m) for Tielemans and rival clubs consider this to be ‘far too high’.

The Foxes face a dilemma though as Tielemans ‘does not seem inclined’ to pen a new deal. Therefore, it is ‘expected’ that their asking price will drop.

The report hints that if Tielemans’ price falls to €20-25m, then teams ‘can/will jump back into the dance’.

It is also suggested that Tielemans will have an ‘exciting’ few days with Arsenal looming in the background.
