Arsenal have entered the race to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom, who have agreed a fee for Kieran Gibbs.

Evans has been identified by the Gunners as a potential centre-half signing, with Shkodran Mustafi heading to Italy after a mixed first campaign in north London.

West Brom defender Evans has been courted by Manchester City and Leicester throughout the summer, but Arsenal have entered the fray with two days of the transfer window remaining.

According to the Daily Telegraph and Sky Sports, initial enquiries have been made over the Northern Irishman’s availability.

Sky report that no bid has been made yet, but the Gunners are expected to move soon.

The two clubs are already at the negotiating table over left-back Gibbs, whose move to Watford collapsed on Tuesday.

The Hornets had agreed a fee for the defender, but his personal demands proved too much of an obstacle for the deal to go ahead.

It has since been reported that the Baggies have had an offer of £7million accepted, and will now look to strike a deal with the player.
