Arsenal are set to receive a last-minute bid from Juventus for defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to reports in Germany.
The German has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and had been expected to leave the club this summer, with Unai Emery even encouraging them “to be protagonists in another team”.
Mustafi played plenty of football in Emery’s first season in charge but has always polarised the opinion of supporters and has made plenty of mistakes.
He remains Arsenal’s fifth most expensive signing joining from Valencia for £35m in 2014 but could leave in a cut-price deal.
With the European transfer window coming to a close on Monday evening, it is looking increasingly unlikely that Mustafi will leave.
However, Sky in Germany reports that Arsenal are expecting a last-minute offer from Juventus for Mustafi after Giorgio Chiellini damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.
Despite that, Sky Sports News claims that a deal for Mustafi ‘is now unlikely’ before the closure of the Serie A window tonight.
