Arsenal are ‘hot’ for Germany international as Arteta is told French forward would be a ‘good choice’

Premier League side Arsenal are keen on signing Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt in the summer transfer window, according to reports.
The Gunners are having a brilliant season in the Premier League with Mikel Arteta’s men currently five points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the summit.
There have already been plenty of rumours linking Arsenal to players in the summer with West Ham midfielder Declan Rice seemingly their top target.
The latest report about a potential move for Rice insists that Arsenal boss Arteta ‘wants to bring in two central midfielders, a winger and probably a left back’ in the next transfer window.
Brandt – who has been linked with Arsenal in previous seasons – can play in a number of positions with the Borussia Dortmund star featuring on both wings, in attacking midfield and in central midfield this season.
The Germany international has contributed eight goals and four assists in 22 Bundesliga appearances this term with Dortmund currently second, level on points with leaders Bayern Munich.
And German newspaper Bild (via Sport Witness) claim that Arsenal are ‘hot’ for Brandt with Arteta keen on bringing the 26-year-old to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The report adds that Brandt would be open to a move to the Premier League with Arsenal, while his contract at Dortmund is expiring in June 2024.
Another player Arsenal are being linked to is Montpellier forward Elye Wahi with the France under-19 international contributing eight goals and one assist in 21 Ligue 1 matches.
It is now the 20-year-old’s third season in and around the Montpellier first team with Wahi playing well despite his side’s struggles towards the bottom of the table.
And Bixente Lizarazu, who won the World Cup with France in 1998, reeckons he would be a “good choice” for Arsenal or Borussia Dortmund.
Lizarazu told Foot-Sur7: “He has great athletic qualities, he’s really quick, really sharp, very good in front of goal. If he makes the right choices, when I hear Arsenal or Dortmund, I think that it would be a good choice for a young player to go to those clubs, to progress some more.
“Even if with Montpellier, he’s already improved enormously. It’s rare to see such young and precocious forwards, but that’s the case these days, and there’s a next level to go get, abroad, probably.”
