The agent of Facundo Torres has confirmed that Premier League side Arsenal are interested in the Orlando City winger.

Arsenal made a number of additions in the summer with Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko the most high-profile signings.

The new players, especially Jesus, have helped to take Mikel Arteta’s squad to a new level with the Gunners currently top of the Premier League standings, two points ahead of defending champions Manchester City.

And Arsenal technical director Edu and the rest of the Gunners hierarchy could look to build on their success in the opening 12 matches of the season by bringing in some new faces in the January transfer window.

The Premier League side are being linked with wingers and central midfielders as they look to improve the depth in those positions.

Youri Tielemans is perhaps the most consistently linked central midfielder  – but there has been speculation that another winger is also high up on the agenda after letting Nicolas Pepe leave on loan to Nice.

The Evening Standard have claimed that Arsenal are ‘considering a January move’ for Orlando City winger Torres as they look to ‘provide competition for Bukayo Saka’.

Torres has contributed nine goals and eight assists in 34 Major League Soccer games for Orlando but the Gunners’ ‘move for the 22-year-old is still at an early stage and it remains to be seen whether they press ahead with a deal for him after talks with his representatives and Orlando’.

And now Torres’ agent Edgardo Lasalvia has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in signing his client but he did admit that “there is still nothing advanced” just yet.

There have been rumours that Arsenal could lose Edu to a rival club with reports of  ‘concrete interest’ from ‘at least two European clubs’.

And Arteta recently opened up about the Brazilian’s “super important” role at the club, he told reporters: “I just hope he stays here for a long time because I think it’s going to be a really positive thing for the club.

“I work with him really well, I think he’s a super important figure at the club who represents all the values and ideas that we want, to do everything in the right way, and hopefully that will be the case.

“There is a lot happening in a football club and he has a huge role and he has a really good way of communicating with people and managing a lot of things that happen daily. For me and for the team he is really important.

“It has to build that relationship. It has to be very well respected, the roles have to be very clear, you have to share the same ideas.

“But at the same time you have to be challenged by each other because sometimes coaches we have all the ideas and we want something right now that is not the best thing for the club and we have the right balance, not only with Edu but with Vinai [Venkatesham] and with Rich [Garlick] and with the ownership.

“It’s really important. We make a decision, it’s all together it’s not your decision or my idea. It’s important in good and difficult moments as well to be together.”

Lasalvia also had an update on Man Utd youngster Facundo Pellistri – who he also represents – with the Uruguayan struggling to make it into the Red Devils first team.

The winger’s representative insists a move will soon materialise if he has a positive World Cup, he added to ESPN: “I think that with a good World Cup, as we think it will have, his departure is imminent.”
