Arsenal legend: Tottenham ‘deserve’ to win the title

Arsenal legend Ian Wright admits that “everything” about Tottenham has impressed him this season as they look to chase down Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.

An impressive 4-0 victory over Bournemouth coupled with Chelsea loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford means that Spurs are now just four points adrift of Antonio Conte’s men with six games to play.

And Wright, who played over 200 times for Spurs’ north London rivals, thinks Mauricio Pochettino’s outfit would be worthy winners if they can chase down Chelsea at the summit.

“If Tottenham win their first league title since 1961, nobody could say they don’t deserve to be champions,” he wrote in The Sun.

“Everyone was resigned to it being a procession rather than a race when Chelsea kicked off this month with a ten-point lead at the top.

“But while everyone else chucked in the towel and handed the crown to the Blues, Spurs have refused to abandon the chase.

“Everything about them impresses me; the players, manager, their attitude and the fantastic football they produce for their fans.”
