Arsenal lodge massive bid for Liverpool target Lemar

Arsenal have submitted a £90million bid for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

Lemar has been a target of Liverpool’s for much of this summer, but the Reds have failed to reach a breakthrough in negotiations with Monaco.

The Ligue Un club are reluctant to lose yet another first-team player in this transfer window, but an offer upwards of £80m could persuade them to do business.

The Gunners are pondering making such a bid, with Alexis Sanchez nearing a move to Manchester City, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having already secured his departure for Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal will offer a British record £90m for the player, who is currently on international duty with France.

The north London club consider Lemar as ‘a replacement for Sanchez’, and believe he will ‘placate fans’ if the Chilean leaves.

Wenger declared a deal for Lemar “dead” earlier this month. Great CPR from the big man.
