Arsenal target Leroy Sane looks frustrated

Premier League side Arsenal are keen on signing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane this summer, according to reports

The Gunners have done some impressive business so far this window, persuading Marquinhos, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus to join the club.

They are also believed to be closing in on a deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City too with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming Arsenal have agreed a £30m fee.

Arsenal had been chasing Leeds United winger Raphinha earlier in the window before it became clear that the Brazil international only had eyes for Barcelona.

And now CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs claims that Bayern Munich winger Sane is a target for Arsenal despite a move to La Liga being “more likely”.

Jacobs told The Done Deal Show: “Yeah I mean Sane to Chelsea is a kind of link that has been developed after Chelsea realised they wouldn’t get Gnabry and the Gnabry thing was a bit of a non-starter because he was always going to sign a new deal,” Jacobs said.

“The Sane thing is something to watch in the coming weeks. It’s not a link that I have yet put to sources and contracts other than a month ago, and the intonation was that Real Madrid might come in for Sane and I think that they would consider it if another club made a move.

“A move to La Liga could be more likely, I’ve not heard rumblings at the Chelsea end, I’ve actually heard more rumblings from Arsenal that this was a name being considered at the beginning of the window, but then they turned their attentions to Raphinha.”

And German publication Bild (via The Sun) back this up by claiming Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is ‘interested in signing’ Sane from the Bundesliga champions this summer.

Sane swapped Man City for Bayern in July 2020 for a fee that could rise to €60m including add-ons and it is currently unclear whether the German outfit would be willing to sell him this summer.

The 26-year-old contributed seven goals and seven assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances last term with ten of those coming from the substitutes’ bench.
