England forward Jarrod Bowen celebrates scoring a goal

Arsenal have ‘opened contact’ with the representatives of West Ham star Jarrod Bowen over a summer move, according to reports.

Bowen – who’s valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt – moved to the Hammers in January 2020 from Hull City for £19m and has been hugely impressive in the Premier League.

His form this season – which saw him notch 18 goals and 13 assists in all competitions for David Moyes’ side – was enough to see him called up by Gareth Southgate to represent England in the Nations League this month.

And his displays have apparently also caught the eye of Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

So say the folks over at The Beautiful Game Podcast, who claim Bowen is on their transfer shortlist this summer, and that they’ve already been in touch with Bowen’s people.

They tweeted: ‘Arsenal have opened contact with the representatives of Jarrod Bowen over a possible transfer. He’s amongst their list of potential transfer targets, which includes Leeds United’s Raphinha.’

Arteta is looking to bolster his forward options this summer, with rumours suggesting the club are willing to cut their losses over £72m Nicolas Pepe.

The Gunners are interested in Raphinha, but so too are Liverpool, and Barcelona, who are thought to be very keen.

Reports claim the Brazilian winger is ready to ‘go to war’ to force through his exit from Leeds and he admitted at the end of the season, having been instrumental in keeping them in the Premier League, that the World Cup this winter was on his mind as he makes a decision on his future.

He said: “If I say that it doesn’t matter, I would be lying, knowing that there are less than six months left for the Cup, you have to be active in the clubs, that weighs on the decision, but I trust my potential.

“If it’s to stay or leave, I’ll do my best, look for my space and I’ll try to be well for the World Cup.”

He was then asked what the future holds for him, to which he jokingly replied: “The next game, against Japan.

“Then I go on vacation. I have a contract with Leeds until 2024, my future is in the hands of Deco and Leeds, I have my mind on the national team, on the game and also on my vacation, we need a vacation.

“I have a contract with Leeds and this issue is resolved by my manager, when something is right, he sends [it to] me.”
