Arsenal are reportedly keen to sign AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo as his contract talks with the Serie A outfit have “stalled” in recent days.

The Gunners remain in the market for new signings after they failed to sign Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk ahead of their rivals Chelsea.

Zaniolo is one player they have consistently been linked with in recent months and he has also attracted the interest of Tottenham.

Arsenal are in the market for a new midfielder, with West Ham United’s Declan Rice said to be their priority in that position.

The Roma star is more of an attacking midfielder and he has also been operated as a second striker this season. He has grabbed 24 goals and 18 assists in 128 outings for the Italian side.

The 23-year-old has missed several games through injury this term but he has been one of Jose Mourinho’s important players. But he may lose him in the coming months as his contract is up in 2024.

Roma are keen to keep him but Italian outlet La Repubblica are reporting that talks between the two parties have now “stalled”.

This has caused “sirens” to go off at Arsenal as they are looking to “snatch” the midfielder from Roma. The report suggests that the player’s price tag is “between 30 and 40 million euros”.

The Londoners could opt to wait until the summer to move for Zaniolo as his valuation will likely drop even further by then. He would certainly be a good option but Arsenal are likely to use the majority of their funds to sign a winger and centre-midfielder.

They are also in the market for a new right-back with Cedric Soares being linked with a move to rivals Fulham.

Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda has emerged as a potential target in recent days and he has also been linked with Man Utd.

The 18-year-old has featured regularly in La Liga this term and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Arsenal are ‘in the race’ to sign him along with Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Newcastle.

‘Arsenal, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle have been monitoring Ivan Fresneda but at the moment there’s still no official bid on Valladolid’s table,’ Romano wrote for Caught Offside.

‘These are the clubs in the race, the feeling is that it will take some days to understand who’s going to sign this super talented 2004-born right back.’

When it comes to Arsenal’s pursuit of a new winger, Romano adds that Barcelona duo Raphinha and Ferran Torres ‘want’ to stay at the Spanish giants.

‘Despite links with Arsenal, both Raphinha and Ferran Torres want to continue at Barcelona, so this is the situation as of now. Arsenal are discussing internally about the best candidate for new winger.’
