Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is no longer a priority signing for Serie A side Torino, according to reports in Italy.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer.
Torreira joined the Gunners in July 2018 after he impressed for Uraguay at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The 24-year-old joined for around £26m from Italian side Sampdoria.
He made 50 appearances in all competitions during his debut season for Arsenal. But the youngster fell down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.
Torreira started only 17 league games during the 2019/20 season, as he has found starts hard to come by under Arteta.
The Uraguay international looks set to depart the Gunners this summer. Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar are believed to be their main targets this window.
But they are having to sell a couple of players in order to fund moves for the midfield duo.
Torreira had been linked with a move to Serie A side Torino, but that deal now looks unlikely to happen. Torino club director Davide Vagnati told Sky Italia that Torreira is not one of their priority signings.
The midfielder now looks likely to sign for Atletico Madrid. A separate report from the Daily Star reveals that the Spanish side have agreed on a deal with Arsenal for Torreira.
A move for Torreira to Madrid should open the door for Arsenal to sign Partey. The release clause for the Ghanian midfielder stands at £44.5m.
Arsenal have already been busy this summer, making four new signings. Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhães joined the Gunners for around £27m.
Pablo Mari signed for a fee in the region of £7m from Fluminense. Meanwhile, Willian and Cedric Soares have made the move on free transfers from Chelsea and Southampton respectively.
