Arsenal target Dominik Szoboszlai is edging “closer” to leaving RB Salzburg, according to the player’s agent.
The youngster became a big player for the Austrian side last season, making 40 appearances. The attacker got 12 goals and 18 assists for them in that time.
The 20-year-old has carried on that great form into this season. He has been involved in 14 goals in all competitions from his 13 outings so far.
In this time he has also established himself in Hungary’s senior squad. He has been capped 12 times and he has scored three times. This includes the winning goal against Iceland that sent them through to next summer’s European Championships.
His form in recent months has made him one of the most sought-after players in Europe. Arsenal are among a number of clubs interested. European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also keen to sign him.
Szoboszlai’s agent, Esterhazy Matyas, recently spoke with Hungarian outlet Digisport about the midfielder’s status:
“We’re seeing that every time he has a good game, which fortunately is happening quite often, the rumours are getting stronger.
“However, our strategy isn’t going to change because of one or two games.
“We have belief in our own plans and the vision we had originally is only getting stronger because all of the comments we are reading only prove that we are on the right path.
“Whether it’s in January or next summer, the most important thing is that he goes to a club where he will have a good chance of playing regularly and continuing the learning curve he started in Salzburg – that’s the most important thing for us.
“Obviously, it’s no secret that Dominik is closer now to leaving the Austrian league.”
Just about all of the greatest uncapped Premier League players ever were pursued by England. And only four of them were English.
