Arsenal ‘trying aggressively’ to hijack Lazio transfer after Serie A side ‘agree’ fee for midfielder
Arsenal are hoping to hijack a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow after Lazio agreed a fee, according to reports.
The 26-year-old has played for the Bundesliga side since leaving Swiss side Young Boys in 2019, making 120 league appearances and scoring seven goals.
Sow, who has 38 caps for Switzerland, could now be on his way out of Germany after four years with Lazio and Sevilla understood to be extremely interested in his services.
And Italian publication Calciomercato now claim that Arsenal are looking to hijack Lazio’s efforts to sign Sow this summer with a move to the Serie A side thought to be ‘essentially all done’.
Lazio ‘found an agreement on the basis of 15 million euros plus bonuses’ with Sow – who has been linked to Arsenal before – giving his ‘go-ahead’ for the deal to go through.
However, ‘something has changed’ with other clubs now ‘trying to insert themselves’ and the midfielder has ‘begun to have doubts and uncertainties about what his role will be in Lazio’.

Nothing is sorted with Sow ‘reflecting and evaluating’ his options with the Switzerland international aware of interest from Sevilla, and now Arsenal.
It is understood that Sevilla have ‘reached an agreement with the player’s agent’ while Premier League side Arsenal are ‘trying to aggressively enter the negotiation’.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of new midfielders over the summer as Mikel Arteta looks to make sure he has the necessary squad to deal with Champions League football next term.
And former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre reckons Declan Rice and Chelsea target Moises Caicedo could play together after the latter was linked with the Gunners again.
Silvestre told GG Recon: “I believe Declan and Moisés could play together, but the thing at the moment is that Arsenal already have Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey on their books.
“Elneny will be fit again soon and Partey is being linked with a move away from the club, but ultimately you need to fill every position with two players. It’s not rocket science, if one player moves then another player will have to come in and replace them.
“The main issue is that Caicedo’s price tag could be too much for Arsenal considering how much they’ve already spent in this summer’s transfer window. You can’t spend too much in one window as you need to consider Financial Fair Play, so Arsenal spending around £100 million on Moisés Caicedo is unlikely to happen in my opinion.”
