Arsenal ‘willing to do anything’ to sign Man Utd target in €60m-plus player deal for ‘jewel’
Arsenal are reportedly ‘willing to do anything’ to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the coming months amid interest from Man Utd.
The Serbia international has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few seasons, with Man Utd often at the centre of discussions.
Talk of him earning a big move is only going to intensify further if he continues his fine form.
Milinkovic-Savic has grabbed three goals and seven assists in just 11 Serie A appearances this season.
The 27-year-old is one of the most gifted players in Serie A and he is tough to handle when at his best.
His current contract at Lazio expires in 2024 so they will be under pressure to sell him in January or next summer if he does not pen an extension.
Italian outlet Calciomercato have now revealed that Arsenal are one of the clubs who have their eye on him.
Not just that, it is even claimed that the Gunners are ‘willing to do anything’ to sign the centre-midfielder.
This includes offering Albert Sambi Lokonga to Lazio as part of a potential swap deal.
This would be done to decrease the price for Milinkovic-Savic. The report states that Lokongo is valued at €25m.
It is said that Lokongo ‘would be accompanied by a substantial cash offer of at least 50-60 million’.
The report hints that this offer may ‘perhaps be enough to bring down the wall’ around Lazio’s midfield ‘jewel’.
Milinkovic-Savic is also being considered by Man Utd and Calciomercato add that Juventus are ‘willing to go crazy’ in an attempt to prize him away from Lazio.
The Lazio star has been a ‘forbidden dream’ for Juventus in recent seasons but competition for him is now ‘becoming increasingly fierce’.
Milinkovic-Savic has arguably never been at a better level than he is now, but the money mentioned is a lot for a player about to enter the final 18 months of his contract.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently suggested that Milinkovic-Savic’s price tag was preventing him from moving to the Premier League.
“Lazio striker Ciro Immobile paid his teammate Sergej Milinkovic-Savic the ultimate compliment by comparing him to Kevin De Bruyne,” Romano wrote for Caught Offside.
He added: “Personally, I think De Bruyne is on another level. Milinkovic-Savic is a fantastic player and I love watching him play, but, honestly, I’m not sure anyone truly compares to De Bruyne’s level right now.
“Still, I am surprised that no European club have met Lazio’s conditions for their star player; Italian clubs always wanted him but the €75m price tag was considered too high.”
