Arsenal ‘working on’ deal for 27-year-old MLS goalkeeper

Arsenal are “working on a deal” to sign New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner, according to reports.
The 27-year-old has been in New England since 2016 and has made over 100 appearances for the MLS club.
Turner has also made 13 appearances for the United States national team, starting in all six games they played at the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Can Manchester United rip it up and start again (again)?
According to The Athletic, Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing the American shot-stopper.
The report adds that it is unlikely a formal bid has been made, but the Gunners are keen on signing the player before the end of the January transfer window.
Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno reportedly wants to leave the club for more regular playing time. His departure would likely result in a new ‘keeper joining the north London club.
The German fell down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta after the summer signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United.
Ramsdale has been very impressive this campaign, becoming Arteta’s first-choice ever since making his league debut against Norwich in September.
90min claim that Newcastle United have “held conservations” with Arsenal over the loan signing of Leno.
They add that this transfer would include an obligation to buy provided Newcastle avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, Steve McManaman cannot see Liverpool signing Bukayo Saka as he thinks “there would be riots” if Arsenal let him leave.
Liverpool are said to be admirers of Saka and they have added him to their list of transfer targets.
As quoted by the Sport Review, McManaman insisted that “there’s no way on earth” that Arsenal sell Saka.
“Bukayo Saka would be an amazing signing for Liverpool but I can’t possibly see Arsenal selling a key player to a domestic rival,” McManaman said.
“I can’t envision that move happening. He’s one of Arsenal’s star men. I’ve seen a lot of Arsenal this season and Buyako excites me more than any other player in their side.
“However, there’s no way on earth that Arsenal will let him go unless it’s a case of his contract running out. He’s such a young lad but still a leading figure in that Arsenal side and he’s improving every single year, so there would be riots if Arsenal let him join Liverpool.”
