Arsenal’s opening offer for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be £35m plus Olivier Giroud, according to the Evening Standard.
Aware that Dortmund will be reluctant to allow Aubameyang to leave without a replacement striker, Arsenal will offer the Frenchman in part-exchange.
Although the Gabon international has been suspended for the latest in a series of disciplinary breaches, coach Peter Stoger has opened the door to his return to the team.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Stoger said: “He’s a BVB player, he’s in training, and he has the chance to get back into the team if his attitude is right.”
Aubameyang is said to be keen on a move to Arsenal and Giroud is similarly keen to leave; he needs first-team football to protect his World Cup place.
With Theo Walcott on the verge of a £20m move to Everton and Alexis Sanchez close to a Manchester United move, January could see big changes at Arsenal.
Losing Alexis, Walcott & Giroud in the same window would be absolutely barmy. That was basically our first choice front 3 a year ago. Think how much has to go wrong to reach the point you let all of them go in January.
