Arsenal’s surprise €35m move ‘could be closed early next week’

Arsenal’s move for Real Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez ‘could be closed early next week’.

Arsenal are yet to sign any players this summer due to a restricted budget, with a number of prospective targets proving too expensive.

There have been claims that the Gunners are using their supposed limited funds as a ‘smokescreen’ to aid in negotiations, but Unai Emery is yet to welcome any new additions regardless.

Spanish daily AS believe that could change as early as Monday, as a move for Vazquez ‘could be closed early next week’.

The 28-year-old ‘has decided’ to join Arsenal even without seeing their wage offer, with his signing coming at the ‘express request’ of Emery himself.

Arsenal must still make an ‘attractive offer’ to Real, who will hold out for €32m (£28.7m) plus €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons.

But the Gunners ‘will do everything on their part to convince’ all parties as Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and PSG are all monitoring developments.
