Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said he watched Eddie Nketiah train after he returned from his Leeds loan and decided to keep him at the club.
The striker has since been unbeaten as an Arsenal player, picking up more points per game than any of his teammates.
Nketiah has scored three goals in seven games since returning to Arsenal and Arteta is clearly happy with his decision to veto another loan.
“We had to make an important decision not to let him go on loan again after the spell he had at Leeds,” said Arteta.
“I watched him train and I was very convinced he was the right player for us to move us to the next level, that he can contribute in a big way to the way we want to play. He has been fantastic so far.”
