Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has praised Aaron Ramsdale as he has “adapted well” since making his move to the club this summer from Sheffield United.

Ramsdale was among a number of signings Arsenal made during the summer. The former AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper joined the Gunners from Sheffield United. They paid an initial fee of £24m to sign him and this could rise to £30m.

The ‘keeper has played seven times for the Londoners so far this season. He has started in Arsenal’s last four Premier League games.

Five reasons why this Premier League season is f***ing brilliant

As reported by BBC Sport, Arteta has praised Ramsdale as he has been “performing well” of late:

“It’s still very early to make a judgement on him but he has settled well. What he can transmit on and off the pitch is really important and I think he’s adapted well.

“He’s also built a great relationship with our fans and that’s because he’s been performing well.

“If he remains humble and keeps improving, then everything will come naturally. He deserves all the opportunities he gets.”

Arsenal face Crystal Palace on Monday evening in their first game back after the international break.

Arteta went onto say that his players are okay heading into the return of league football:

“Everybody seems to be okay after the break, Granit Xhaka is progressing well too but his is a long-term injury.

“We managed to turn things around a little bit but there’s still big margins for improvement and although we got some good points, we still need to progress up the table.

“We need to improve our efficiency in front of goal and when we’ve got that balance right we will then be able to win more games.”

Palace are now managed by Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira. Arteta hopes that he “gets the reception that he deserves” on Monday:

“He is an Arsenal legend and I hope he gets the reception that he deserves. As a player, he was the captain of the club in its most successful years.

“He’s had managerial experience before but you can see the touch that he’s trying to put on Crystal Palace.

“I don’t know how they’ll set up so we will just have to see how the game develops.”
