Arteta told Arsenal’s ‘priority’ in Jan as he’s given ‘limited funds’
Arsenal will only provide Mikel Arteta with ‘limited funds’ in the January transfer market, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror claimed on Wednesday that discussions between the Spaniard and Arsenal director Josh Kroenke have now concluded with ‘the process effectively done.’
Arsenal are ‘ready to finalise a three-and-a-half year deal’ after Arteta ‘agreed to become the next manager’.
It is understood Arteta will be in the dugout for their trip to Goodison Park on Saturday where they face Everton in the Premier League.
And the Daily Star build on that report by saying that Arteta ‘has been told only limited funds will be available to him in January’.
Instead of buying lots of players, Arsenal have a different plan for January, ‘with the club’s priority a clear-out of its high-earning flops’.
Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi are two players the club want off the wage bill with others also potentially on their way out.
And the Daily Star adds that the Arsenal hierarchy think ‘the squad contains enough talent to be doing much better than it is’ and believe there is enough for the talented Arteta to work with.
