Aston Villa stung by forward star, who ‘hasn’t even listened’ to £51m offer amid ‘top clubs’ stance

Federico Chiesa, Juventus, April 2023

Aston Villa have reportedly lodged a bid of approximately £51million for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, and he “hasn’t even listened” to it, as he “only wants to play at top clubs”.

Villa seem keen on adding a forward star to the mix this summer. They’ve already recruited in both the midfield and defence, signing Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres.

In terms of the forward line, they’ve apparently offered to sign AC Milan’s Charles de Ketelaere. An improved offer of £24million could apparently see them land him.

Moussa Diaby is also reportedly on their radar – he’s another player who the Villans have sent an ‘opening proposal’ for.

The attempts to sign an attacker don’t end there. Indeed, Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has detailed their approach for Juventus winger Chiesa, as both he and Dusan Vlahovic are apparently up for sale this summer.

“Dusan Vlahovic is practically on the market in the sense that Juventus will listen to any offer, both Dusan Vlahovic and Chiesa,” Di Marzio told wett freunde.

However, despite a big offer from the Villans, Chiesa is literally not bothered about entertaining it in the slightest, as they’re not a big enough name for him.

“But it also depends on the players. Aston Villa have bid €60m for Chiesa but he hasn’t even listened to the offer as he doesn’t want to join Aston Villa. He only wants to play at top clubs,” Di Marzio added.

That’ll be a stinging blow for a side who finished seventh in the Premier League last season. Indeed, Villa are a club on the rise and could well continue that rise this season, with or without Chiesa, though clearly the preference is with him.

However, it seems unlikely they’ll be able to land him. Even if Juventus are to accept the offer of approximately £51million, Chiesa could simply refuse to agree to personal terms.

It’s little surprise he’s holding out for a move to a bigger side. Despite a couple of rough seasons, largely due to injuries, he’s clearly a very good player, having directly contributed to 16 goals in Serie A in the 2020/21 campaign.

And big clubs are seemingly aware that the forward can be very useful at full fitness. Indeed, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle are all among the sides linked with Chiesa.

Those would seemingly be the sorts of ‘top clubs’ he’d be willing to play for, and he might get that chance this summer.
