Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not travel with the rest of the Arsenal squad for their trip to Dubai during the winter break, according to reports.

Arsenal’s last game before the winter break was a disappointing one as they dropped points against Burnley.

They are now sixth in the Premier League and they are two points behind fourth-placed Man Utd. The Gunners’ first game after the break is against Wolves on February 10.

Aubameyang has not played for Arsenal since the start of December. He has been made to train on his own after his disciplinary breach.

The Athletic have revealed the striker will not be travelling with the rest of the squad to Dubai. The squad are due to travel on Monday and Jack Wilshere is expected to be part of the group.

The report adds that Aubameyang’s wages are ‘likely to be a problem’ for the clubs interested in him. It was revealed earlier this week that six teams are admirers of him.

Elsewhere, ex-Gunners defender Lauren has claimed that Arsenal need another striker to “guarantee” themselves fourth place:

“After a slow start, the team are now in a Champions League position, which is a testament to the job Arteta and his players have done over the past few months. The season is going well; I just hope it continues that way. I believe they’ll qualify for next year’s Champions League.

“If Arsenal want to increase their chances of securing a Champions League spot this season – something I believe is very important for the club – then the striker situation needs addressing.

“Either we resolve the situation with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or we bring someone in who can get ten-plus goals between now and the end of the season.

“First of all, I think it’s important to talk with Aubameyang, to try and get him back on board. If the club cannot resolve that issue, then we should be looking at another target in this transfer window, just to be sure that there is enough depth and quality at that end of the pitch.

“The midfield players have been adding goals, but they need another striker to help guarantee that Champions League place.”
