Eric Bailly has warned Man Utd that he will find “another solution” if he is given the playing time he wants next season.

The Ivory Coast international signed a three-year contract extension in April, which also includes an option of a further year.

The 27-year-old will remain at Old Trafford until at least 2024. with the potential to stay longer if all is well.

Europa final failure not an option for Solskjaer and Man Utd

The Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Villarreal’s Pau Torres as the summer transfer window approaches.

Any move for another centre-back could push Bailly further down the pecking order and that is something the defender will not allow.

“Competition is always good to improve,” Bailly told The Times. “I just say that I want to stay in case I get the chance to play. I don’t want to be a starter one game and a substitute for another five.

“If that happens I will have to look for another solution. The new contract is fine but if I don’t play I will be open to listen to other proposals.”

On signing his new contract at Old Trafford, Bailly added: “Before signing the contract I wanted to be clear about my future in the team. If I’m going to get minutes and if I’m going to be OK, because I’m aware that I’ve had a lot of injuries.

“But I’m back and I feel strong and fit. I can be at the level that a top club like Manchester United requires.”

Man Utd and Bailly are preparing for their Europa League final clash with Villarreal tonight and the centre-back doesn’t want to experience the “bad taste” of their semi-final defeat to Sevilla last season again.

Bailly continued: “United have always been in the Champions League but the Europa League is still an important trophy that can save the season. Despite finishing second in the Premier League it has not been an easy year and we have lost a few semi-finals in recent years. This is an opportunity we don’t want to miss.

“Everyone in the dressing room remembers the bad taste in our mouths from last year when we were knocked out by Seville in the semi-finals. But life always gives you another rematch.”
