Bamford: Sorry about that ‘terrible’ thing I said

Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford has predictably said that his comments about his “terrible” Crystal Palace loan spell were taken out of context.

Bamford came on as a substitute in Monday’s 0-0 draw with Swansea and then said: “That was my last game for Palace. It has been terrible.”

The striker – who played only 118 minutes of Premier League football for Palace – has since taken to Twitter to claim his remarks were not indicative of his true feelings towards the Eagles.

“My comments were taken out of context,” he insisted.

“I want to apologise. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Palace, the lads were brilliant, the gaffer and training were great. I couldn’t have been at a nicer club. I’m just disappointed I couldn’t do more for the team.”
